LONDON (AP) - The U.S. dollar was mostly lower Monday against other major currencies in European trading. Gold prices rose.
The euro traded at $1.5739 in European trading, up from $1.5687 late Friday in New York. The euro rose as high as $1.5904 earlier Monday. Later, in midday trading in New York, the euro fetched $1.5717.
Other dollar rates in Europe, compared with late rates Friday in New York, included 96.89 Japanese yen, down from 99.21; 0.9820 Swiss francs, down from 1.000; and 0.9867 Canadian dollars, down from 1.0137.
