LONDON (AP) - The U.S. dollar was mostly lower against other major currencies in European trading Tuesday. Gold fell.
The euro traded at $1.5791, up from $1.5731 late Monday in New York. Later, in midday trading in New York, the euro fetched $1.5792.
Other dollar rates in Europe, compared to late Monday in New York, included 98.35 Japanese yen, up from 98.04; 0.9887 Swiss francs, down from 1.0125; and 0.9941 Canadian dollars, down from 1.0009.
