WASHINGTON (AP) - The Supreme Court on Monday refused to consider a lawsuit by Puerto Rico seeking FBI files in the killing of Puerto Rican independence supporter Filiberto Ojeda Rios.
The alleged leader in a $7.1 million robbery of a Wells Fargo armored car depot in 1983 in Connecticut, Ojeda died in a 2005 shootout with the FBI at a remote farmhouse in Puerto Rico, triggering an angry backlash against the U.S. government.
He had been on the run for 15 years after skipping bail during his trial.
