WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) - A New Zealand teenager accused of helping lead an international cyber crime network has been convicted of computer hacking crimes.
Computer programmer Owen Thor Walker, 18, pleaded guilty Tuesday to six charges related to using computers for illegal purposes. Police alleged he was involved in a crime ring that infiltrated 1.3 million computers and skimmed millions of dollars from victims' bank accounts.
Judge Arthur Tompkins ordered Walker to remain in custody until May 28, when he will hand down a sentence. Walker faces several prison terms of up to five years.
