TORONTO (AP) - The Supreme Court of Canada Thursday turned down another effort by accused terrorist Momin Khawaja to derail his prosecution on constitutional grounds.
Khawaja, a 29-year-old software developer, is accused of participating in an al-Qaida-inspired cell that plotted bombings in Britain in 2004. He is the first person charged under Canada's Anti-Terrorist Act, which the country adopted after the 9/11 attacks. He faces seven charges.
Canada's highest court refused to hear Khawaja's challenge to federal legislation designed to safeguard secret intelligence in a ruling released without comment Thursday.
