SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Federal investigators on Wednesday expressed alarm over a second explosion this year at the same Utah refinery, which has a history of trouble dating to 2003.
The U.S. Chemical Safety Board was still investigating a January fire that burned for 11 hours when it dispatched a team to look at Wednesday's blast at Silver Eagle Refinery, five miles north of Salt Lake City.
The explosion shook nearby homes, shifting one house off its foundation and prompting a building inspector to condemn it, said Woods Cross Mayor Kent Parry. Ten homes were damaged, said Silver Eagle president David McSwain.
